12 -15 October 2021 | Hamburg
Chairwomen of the board of WISTA Germany
Dear WISTA Members, dear Friends!
The first months of 2020 have been a challenge for the world – the impact of the covid-19 virus on our lives are tremendous and many challenged are ahead of us. The well-being of our WISTA members and friends are our priority and therefore WISTA International and WISTA Germany decided to postpone this year’s event to the 41. WISTA International AGM & Conference from 12-15 October 2021. WISTA Germany is excited to have the chance to host the 41th WISTA International AGM and Conference in 2021 – thank you to WISTA Brazil (the planned host of the conference in 2021) for their support.
This is the fourth time that WISTA Germany has the pleasure of welcoming you in Hamburg, including the very first WISTA International AGM and Conference, which took place here all the way back in 1981.
Since then, not only has the shipping industry changed enormously, but the pace of change and pressure to adjust is accelerating. Therefore, we are tailoring the conference to highlight new trends in the maritime industry and where these might take us in the near future.
We will keep our theme, Shipping 2025 – Today’s actions for tomorrow’s business. The included topics sustainability, digitization, and infrastructure remain import and due to covid-19 digitalisation is accelerated and potentials in supply chains came to the fore. We will also draw inspiration from the IMO World Maritime theme for 2020 “Sustainable shipping for a sustainable planet” and latest developments displayed at the SMM taking place Feb 2nd – 5th 2021 in Hamburg.
We are sure you will find something of interest to get involved and even inspired!

How and to what extent does the above trigger changes in existing business models and what will it take for players in the maritime sector to lower the environmental footprint of our industry further. We all know, only collective actions will allow us to master these challenges and protect our planet in the future.
