Visiting “Ratsherrn Brauerei” (beer brewery)                                                                                                                                            Wednesday, 16th September 2020

Starting point of this tour is the reception of our conference hotel “Radisson Blue Dammtor”. After a 45 minutes’ walk through Planten un Bloomen guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the “Ratsherrn Brauerei”. Within a 105 minutes guided tour you get insight into 1,000 years of Hamburg beer history (from the beginning to the craft beer revolution). The visit includes a tour through the brewery with features of the councilman brewery process and the tasting of different beers. The return journey to the conference hotel is by train or collective taxi.

Airbus Site Tour Hamburg                                                                                                                                                                     Thursday, 17th September 2020  

Starting point of this tour is the reception of our conference hotel “Radisson Blu Dammtor”. After a approx. 60 minutes’ journey with the metro and ferry guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at AIRBUS. On this tour you will see not only the A320 family but also production parts for wide-body aircraft such as the A330, A350 or A380, depending on production. After lunch we drive back with the metro and ferry to the conference hotel.

Excursion 1 – Discover the Elbphilharmonie concert hall

Starting point of this tour is the metro station “Baumwall”. After a short 10 minutes’ walk guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the Elbphilharmonie. The guided tours of the Elbphilharmonie building take you through the old Kaispeicher warehouse, the Plaza, the foyer areas and the heart of the Elbphilharmonie, the Grand Hall. The duration of the guided tour is approx. 75 minutes.

Excursion 2 –  “Internationales Maritimes Museum Hamburg “

Starting point of this tour is the metro station “Meßberg”. After a short 15 minutes’ walk guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the the “Internationales Maritimes Museum Hamburg”. 3000 years of maritime history and modern research. The International Maritime Museum is housed in the heritage listed building, Kaispeicher B. Three thousand years’ worth of maritime history are displayed on nine ‘decks’ with precious exhibits, model ships and paintings. There is an entire deck dedicated to marine research. Our guided tour “The best piece – Highlights of the collection” lasts approx. 90 minutes.

Excursion  3 –  Grand Harbour Boat Trip

Starting point of this tour is the metro station „Baumwall“. After a short 10 minutes’ walk guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the “Brücke 1“. A harbor cruise in Hamburg promises all sorts of sailor’s yarn: there is plenty to do on the tour to the world’s most modern container terminal in Altenwerder. The tour leads past ocean liners and through locks and canals of the historic warehouse district. The duration of the guided tour is approx. 75 minutes.

Excursion 4 –  CAP SAN DIEGO

Starting point of this tour is the metro station „Baumwall“. After a short 10 minutes’ walk guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the “Überseebrücke“. The CAP SAN DIEGO is the last surviving ship in a series of six fast general cargo freighters which were built in 1961/62 for the shipping company Hamburg Süd and preferably drove to South America until the end of 1981. Since 1988, the CAP SAN DIEGO has been a museum ship and, since 2003, a maritime monument, which now has its berth at the “Überseebrücke” in Hamburg. The duration of the guided tour is approx. 90 minutes.

Excursion  5 –  Coffee Museum Burg

Starting point of this tour is the metro station “Meßberg”. After a short 15 minutes’ walk guided by our Hamburg WISTA sisters, we will arrive at the the “Coffee Museum Burg”. In the only vaulted cellar of the “Speicherstadt”, hundreds of objects from the Burg Collection are used to create a world in which you can learn all about the prima donna of useful plants. Coffee is the most popular drink of the Germans and many other nations. Take a journey from cultivation all over the world via the Hanseatic trading office to the shop from grandma’s times. Discover different ways of preparation and enjoy with us good, traditional roasted coffee. The duration of the guided tour is approx. 90 minutes.
