Expect a moderate climate in September with sunny days as well as occasional rain showers and a temperature up to 20°C.


The official currency is Euro. Exchange of foreign currency is available at the airport, train station, most hotels, banks and exchange offices.


The Organizers cannot accept liability for injuries or losses of whatever nature incurred by participants, nor for loss of or damage to their luggage and/or personal belongings.


The official congress language is English.

Personal Insurance

We recommend that all participants take out a personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Programme Changes

The Organizers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to external unforeseen circumstances.

Public Transportation

Your congress name badge serves as ticket for public transportation. The underground line 2 stops directly at the congress venue (Messehallen).

Airline/railway tickets

Lufthansa Germany Airlines and Deutsche Bahn will become official partner of the congress offering reduced ticket fares for your journey to Hamburg (further information will follow).


As in all major cities and congress venues, people should take care of their personal belongings. It is not advised to wear your congress badge outside the WISTA Congress activities.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is only allowed in restricted areas; the meeting itself is a non-smoking event.


Germany is part of the European Schengen area. The entry formalities for Germany vary accordingly to the country of origin. A letter of invitation can be issued by the congress and registration office.
